Mudcloth cover is 100% authentic and imported from west Africa. It was handmade with a carefully curated material by African artisans. Fabrics meticulously selected.

African mudcloth textiles are traditional hand woven thick cotton fabrics that are hand dyed in Mali Africa using fermented mud and plant dyes, left in the sun to dry and then repeating the whole process again: this is how the term "mudcloth" was originated.

Designs might differ from picture shown as each piece is a one of a kind.

Decorative cushion only.

Approximate measurements : 45cm x 45cm.
Front: Rusty brown patterned authentic African mudcloth.
Back: Cotton linen blend in ivory.
Professionally handcut, sewn & finished in Egypt with:
  • Interfacing
  • Invisible zipper
  • Insert included

+ Why is interfacing important?

We add interfacing to each pillow to stabilize the mudcloth. Interfacing secures seams and prevents the fabric from stretching out of shape, ensuring you receive the highest quality pillow cover all the while retaining the natural beauty of a hand loomed textile.

Each piece is unique, variations in pattern, color fading, and slight stitching imperfections in the cloth are to be expected and add to its beauty. These imperfections should be considered acceptable and not as defect.

MAISON BAYA is about simplicity, imperfections and embracing the ‘flaws’

+ Care instructions:

Dry clean only
Only wash when absolutely necessary!

    + Washing advice:

You will have to take some precautions with this vegetable dye.

Rinse your cushion in a bath of strongly salted cold water or water to which 1/3 cup of white vinegar has been added, it helps set color & reduce fading/transferring.

Use chemical free soap (such as Castile Soap). Submerge your cushion, gently stirring, let sit for about 5mins. Remove cushion and very gently press out excess water, we suggest using an old towel. Do not twist to remove the water, it will lose its shape. Hang dry or lay your cushion on a flat surface to dry. You can safely iron your cushion on a cotton setting if needed.
